Idyllwild Arts Academy

Hunt has been working with Idyllwild Arts Academy, developing a new sign system for its campus nestled in the San Jacinto Mountains of Southern California. The school needed its campus to reflect its updated identity and revamped curriculum while still capturing the charm of its history and culture. This challenge led to the design of a robust sign family that will hold up in the demanding mountain environment and spotlight the school’s identity.

A recent visit to Ampersand sign shop to get a first look at the prototypes, revealed the details which will help connect these signs with the school’s brand and its rustic setting. A crisp expression of their brand colors is paired with chunky wooden posts stained to coordinate with the school’s distinctive cedar-clad architecture. Quirky iconography pays respect to existing, rough-hewn signage that was hand routed by the Operations Department. All with reflective vinyl to satisfy the local fire department.

The Academy is excited to begin seeing the new signs installed later this Summer for the start of the Fall term.
