All-new wayfinding signage by Hunt Design has been completed at the National Mall—site of Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, Vietnam Memorial and other moving national symbols as well as the Smithsonian museums. The two year design project includes directional signage to over fifty destinations on the 400-acre site and new easy-to-use visitor maps and informative plan-your-visit displays. To help communicate with the Mall’s over 26,000,000 annual visitors, Hunt Design staff designed pictographs for each of the Mall’s many memorials, monuments and museums. Unveiled as part of the $50 million National Park Centennial Project, the project goals include creating a welcoming atmosphere, developing a quality system of distinctive and well-connected public spaces while defining the park’s boundaries, and acknowledging the National Mall as a source of national pride.
