A new exhibit celebrates the life and times of the noted television journalist. Designed for Chapman University and funded by the Automobile Club of Southern California, the 700 sq.ft. permanent display illuminates Howser’s 45-year life on camera. A colorful timeline tracks Howser from the University of Tennessee to New York City and on to Los Angeles where he produced over 1000 human interest television programs, most notably, KCET’s California’s Gold. “We tried hard to bring Huell’s dynamic personality to life with color, type and image.” says project designer Jennifer Bressler. Large quotes from Howser’s famous exclamations punctuate the exhibit; family-style photos help interpret Howser’s journey from high school column writer to wildly popular TV host.
